Sacristans

For: Adults

Ministry:  Assist in setting up the altar, preparing the bread and wine, readying the chalices and other items necessary for communions, preparation of the ritual books of the Gospel, Sacramentary and Lectionary, Book of Blessings, Rites of Christian Burial and more.  We attend the needs of the presider, ministers of the altar and the assembly.  We are the caretakers of the sacred vessels and vestments.

Time:  Arrive 1 hour before Mass begins.  We stay during Mass and put everything up afterwards which takes an additional 20 minutes.

Special Skills: If you like to help in a quiet “behind the scenes” way, then becoming a sacristan may be the job for you.  A Sacristan is responsible for “the care of holy things” used in the worship life of the parish.
